The meetings take place on every other Wednesday for an hour during term time. The main functions of the rapid response meetings are:
- to be gatekeepers for all referrals to Alternative Provisions (APs) and to ensure a fair and reasonable allocation of resources and placements
- to consider long term options for students at serious risk of permanent exclusion either for a one-off incident or those who are persistently disruptive and have had repeated fixed term suspensions
- to consider short-term options for students who would likely benefit from interventions and make successful return to mainstream school.
The outcome for cases can be:
- a referral to one or more of the AP options available
- additional funding to support interventions
- thrive practitioner input
