Cost of living survey
Help us improve the cost of living support in Barking and Dagenham by taking part in our survey. Your feedback is invaluable in enhancing the support we offer!
Our Council Tax Support scheme for working age people uses a simple system of income bands to assess your award. The scheme for pensioners remains unchanged.
The income band system gives you a percentage reduction on your Council Tax bill based on your household income. Extra allowances are allowed for households with children.
The Council Tax Support scheme for 2025/26 has changed. The maximum award that can be received in each income band (the discount) is lower than the discount provided in the 2024/25 scheme.
