Learning, Improvement and Training

Learning and Improvement Framework

The Barking and Dagenham Safeguarding Children Partnership (BDSCP) Learning and Improvement framework demonstrates how learning is identified, disseminated and implemented in practice within a multi-agency context, to improve outcomes for children and young people and their families within Barking and Dagenham.  The BDSCP Learning and Improvement Framework is central to the BDSCP Multi-Agency Safeguarding Arrangements.  The Framework enables, not only a rigorous assessment of the quality of multiagency safeguarding arrangements, but how we learn from this to drive forward improvements to the safeguarding system and in turn, outcomes for children, young people and their families.

Learning from Practice

Working closely with the Barking and Dagenham One Panel, the Safeguarding Partnership ‘Learning from Practice Subgroup’ meets at least 4 times a year.

The Learning from Practice Group will:

  • evaluate the impact of training on practice and improved outcomes for children and vulnerable adults (multi-agency and single-agency)
  • identify commission and sign off Safeguarding Partnership Policy and Guidance
  • ensure that the BDSCP Learning and Improvement Framework is embedded
  • work with the Barking and Dagenham One Panel and the Performance and Quality Assurance Group to commission audits to investigate and report on improvements and impact, where necessary
  • ensure that the learning from reviews is built into the multi-agency programme of training and that learning from national and local reviews is reflected in the reviews completed by the partnership

All other responsibilities of the Learning from Practice group can be found in the Terms of Reference (PDF, 147.04 KB)
