London Borough of Barking and Dagenham have rolled out Neighbourhood Watch across the borough.
The aim is to bring together residents to create strong, cohesive and welcoming communities to support the reduction in crime and anti-social behaviour.
To do this the council and partners such as the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) and Barking and Dagenham Council for Voluntary Services (CVS) want to work closer with communities to ensure that fewer people feel unsafe, vulnerable and isolated in the place they live.
As part of Neighbourhood Watch the council have bought a new system called Online Watch Link (OWL) that allows the council and MPS to share information and crime prevention advice directly to residents quicker and more effectively than before. Messages include crime alerts, timely crime prevention advice and good news stories sent via email.
For those that do not have internet access, quarterly round up information flyers will be sent to residents who have signed up to OWL. The aim of this is that residents can help detect and prevent crime and disorder, support one another and be more aware of what is happening across the borough.
By joining OWL you will become part of the Neighbourhood Watch Scheme in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham.
