By-election

A by-election is to be held for Councillors to serve in the following ward within the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham:

  1. Nomination papers may be obtained from the Electoral Services office, Town Hall, 1 Town Square, Barking, Essex, IG11 7LU, during the times stated below, or by email electoral.services@lbbd.gov.uk
     
  2. Nomination papers must be delivered to the Returning Officer, Town Hall, 1 Town Square, Barking, Essex, IG11 7LU between the hours of 10am and 4pm on any week day (excluding bank holidays) after the date of this notice but no later than 4pm on Friday 1 November 2024
     
  3. If the election is contested, the poll will take place on Thursday 28 November 2024
     
  4. Applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by midnight on Tuesday 12 November 2024. Applications can be made online on the GOV.UK website
     
  5. Applications, amendments or cancellations of postal votes must reach the Electoral Registration Officer, Town Hall, 1 Town Square, Barking, Essex, IG11 7LU or at email electoral.services@lbbd.gov.uk by 5pm on Wednesday 13 November 2024
     
  6. Amendments or cancellations of current proxy and postal proxy vote arrangements must reach the Electoral Registration Officer, Town Hall, 1 Town Square, Barking, Essex, IG11 7LU or at email electoral.services@lbbd.gov.uk by 5pm on Wednesday 13 November 2024
     
  7. New applications to vote by proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer, Town Hall, 1 Town Square, Barking, Essex, IG11 7LU or at email electoral.services@lbbd.gov.uk by 5pm on Wednesday 20 November 2024
     
  8. Applications to vote by emergency proxy at this election on the grounds of late illness or incapacity resulting from the coronavirus pandemic, other physical incapacity or for work or service reasons must reach the Electoral Registration Officer, Town Hall, 1 Town Square, Barking, Essex, IG11 7LU by 5pm on Thursday 28 November 2024.  The late illness, incapacity or grounds of work or service must have occurred after 5pm on Wednesday 20 November 2024
