London Borough of Barking and Dagenham By-Election of a Councillor in the Whalebone Ward

  1. A by-election is to be held for a Councillor to serve in the following ward within the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham:

Whalebone One (1) 

  1. Nomination papers may be obtained from the Electoral Services office, Town Hall, 1 Town Square, Barking, Essex, IG11 7LU, during the times stated below, or by e-mail from electoral.services@lbbd.gov.uk.

     

  2. Nomination papers must be delivered to the Returning Officer, Town Hall, 1 Town Square, Barking, Essex, IG11 7LU between the hours of 10.00am and 4.00pm on any week day (excluding bank holidays) after the date of this notice but no later than 4.00pm on Friday 24 January 2025.

     

  3. If the election is contested, the poll will take place on Thursday 20 February 2025.

     

  4. Applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by midnight on Tuesday 4 February 2025. 

    Applications can be made online

     

  5. Applications, amendments or cancellations of postal votes must reach the Electoral Registration Officer, Town Hall, 1 Town Square, Barking, Essex, IG11 7LU or at electoral.services@lbbd.gov.uk by 5.00pm on Wednesday 5 February 2025.

     

  6. Amendments or cancellations of current proxy and postal proxy vote arrangements must reach the Electoral Registration Officer, Town Hall, 1 Town Square, Barking, Essex, IG11 7LU or at electoral.services@lbbd.gov.uk by 5.00pm on Wednesday 5 February 2025.

     

  7. New applications to vote by proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer, Town Hall, 1 Town Square, Barking, Essex, IG11 7LU or at electoral.services@lbbd.gov.uk by 5.00pm on Wednesday 12 February 2025.

     

  8. Applications to vote by emergency proxy at this election on the grounds of late illness or incapacity resulting from the coronavirus pandemic, other physical incapacity or for work or service reasons must reach the Electoral Registration Officer, Town Hall, 1 Town Square, Barking, Essex, IG11 7LU by 5.00pm on Thursday 20 February 2025.  The late illness, incapacity or grounds of work or service must have occurred after 5.00pm on Wednesday 12 February 2025.
