Is fostering right for me?

Whatever your sexuality, whatever your disability, whether you're older, younger, in a relationship or single you can probably foster. But are you over 21 years of age?
You must be over the age of 21 to foster a child or young person, please come back to us when you are old enough.
To be a long term foster carer you must be available full time to support, love and care for a child and not be employed elsewhere. If you're in a relationship one of you can be employed but the other must be available full time. Is this possible?
Do you have a spare room where you live, that a foster child can use?
Because of the extra needs foster children have, we need foster carers to be available  full time, so please come back to us if things change. We do pay very reasonable rates to carers, so you might find that changing your career to be a full time foster carer makes sense for you. Please give us a call on 020 8227 5988 to find out more or complete our contact us form.

You might also want to consider becoming a short term break foster carer. This is respite foster care for a child with or without their siblings at weekends or a few days at a time, whilst parents or carers take a short break.

If you are interested in being a baby foster carer (for children under 3 years old) you do not need a spare room.

However, you do need a spare room to foster a child or young person aged 4-18.
