There will be the chance to learn how to be a coffee barista, become a photographer or try your luck at yoga with the latest round of free events from Every One Every Day.

During the next five weeks over 100 events will be happening across Barking and Dagenham, to encourage people to get together, try new skills and meet like-minded residents. 

The initiative is community-led, meaning that people can visit the Every One Every Day shops across the borough, and share ideas on what they would like to do or see introduced into their area.

The £7.2million project, funded by amongst others the National Lottery Fund, City Bridge Trust and the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation, is the largest in the UK and has hosted more than 50 free events so far this year.

Every One Every Day’s summer events programme includes a whole host of activities and classes, which cater for a wide range of interests.

People will be able to have their portrait taken by a local photographer on 17 July, while green fingered residents may enjoy planting sunflowers on 19 July.  

Whether it’s spoken word sessions, cookery classes, sports, or photo and video editing lessons, there really is something for everyone over the coming weeks.

Deputy Leader of Barking and Dagenham Council and Cabinet Member for Community Leadership and Engagement, Councillor Saima Ashraf, heralded the impact the scheme has had since it launched in November:

“Every One Every Day has been a tremendous success since its inception, offering residents the chance to share knowledge and learn new skills without any cost attached.

“There are some fascinating activities on offer in the next few weeks, so I would implore residents to go along and learn something new and interesting this summer.”
