Barking and Dagenham backs National Apprenticeship Week

Barking and Dagenham council joined employers across the country to lend its support for National Apprenticeship Week 2019 which ran from Monday 4 to 8 March.

The council also used the week as an opportunity to remind residents of the diverse range of opportunities available to apprentices of all ages by encouraging more people to follow their passion and apply for an apprenticeship.

Councillor Sade Bright, Cabinet Member for Employment, Skills and Aspiration, said: “We are proud once again to be supporting National Apprenticeship Week. It is an opportunity for our residents to start a career and get a qualification while getting paid.

“We are determined that in our pursuit of growth for the borough, no one should be left behind. I will encourage local residents to consider this as a career path – remember, you are never too old for new opportunities.”

There are 120 apprentices employed across the council and our local schools in a range of disciplines.
