Fourteen households on the housing waiting list will now be able to move into their brand-new council homes as they got handed the keys for the new properties at Truscott House.
Truscott House in North Street, Barking, comprises of 14 homes - 12 one-bedroom terraced courtyard houses and two 2-bed wheelchair accessible homes. The homes are designed to a high standard with generous living space and are in close proximity to transport links and local amenities.

Councillor Cameron Geddes, Cabinet Member for Housing and Regeneration, said: “We are really pleased to be able to have been handed the keys to this development which will provide much needed homes for residents on the housing waiting list.

“Despite the difficulties we are proud to say we are providing housing across a range of tenures for the residents of Barking and Dagenham. I look forward to handing the keys over to the new residents.”
Ola Laniyan, Assistant Director of Construction for Be First, the council's regeneration company that built the new homes, said: “I am really excited to be able to handover these beautifully designed houses, which offer top quality homes for local people. We’re particularly proud of them because they have very high insulation levels, which means low fuel bills and reduced noise for residents and several are wheelchair accessible.”
The homes in Truscott House bring the total homes built for residents on the housing waiting list in the past 10 months to 99 – 85 of them in Dagenham.
