Eastbury Manor House set to re-open later this month with love on Valentine’s Day

Eastbury Manor House is set to re-open its doors to the public after a short break for the winter, with a Valentine’s Day event on Thursday 14 February.

Barking’s picturesque Elizabethan gentry house will be hosting a romantic three course meal in the unique setting of the 16th century Grade I listed building.

"I hope that as many of our residents as possible will take advantage of the free entry that is being offered to people living in Barking and Dagenham”

The event will take place at 7pm and you can buy tickets online at Eventbrite.

Eastbury Manor House will also re-open to the public from Thursday 14 February onwards, offering residents the chance to discover the fascinating history of one of the borough’s most iconic buildings.

Their new exhibition - Eastbury Saved - will be available to view on all open days. It follows the story of Eastbury in the early 20th century and how it survived the pressures of the social and industrial changes, in Barking and beyond.

The house will be open from 10am to 4pm on Thursdays and Fridays, and 11am to 4pm on Sundays. Entry is free to Barking and Dagenham residents with proof of address, as well as SPAB and National Trust members. Other visitors can buy tickets at a cost of £5 for adults, £2.50 for concessions and a family ticket (two adults and up to two children) for £9.

Find out what’s on offer in 2019 on the Eastbury Manor House website, including an afternoon tea to celebrate Mother’s Day and the Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt.

Councillor Saima Ashraf, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Community Leadership and Engagement, is encouraging residents to visit the gentry house:

“Eastbury Manor House is one of the historical highlights of our borough and it is a truly fascinating building. I hope that as many of our residents as possible will take advantage of the free entry that is being offered to people living in Barking and Dagenham,” she said.

“They are also hosting what looks like a delicious Valentine’s Day dinner, which I’m sure will be a very special event for anyone choosing to attend.”
