Barking Learning Centre will be hosting a series of fortnightly Comic Book Workshops over the coming months, as part of the council’s Pen to Print programme.
The workshops commenced on 2 February and are taking place every other Saturday from 10am to 12pm until 6 April 2019.
Graphic novelist Wallis Eates will be in attendance, helping residents to improve their creative writing and artistic skills as they design their own comic strips.
The classes are free and it’s not too late to get involved. Participants are advised to attend all remaining sessions to get the best out of the programme, and places can be booked on our Pen to Print webpage.
The Comic Book Workshops form part of Pen to Print’s wider programme of creative writing classes, competitions, author events and the annual literary festival 'ReadFest'.
They are organised by the council’s libraries’ Pen to Print programme and made possible by funding from Arts Council, England.
"It is wonderful to see our residents getting the chance to learn from someone with so much knowledge"
Councillor Saima Ashraf, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Community Leadership and Engagement, is hoping that residents take up this exciting opportunity:
“Wallis Eates is a very talented artist and it is wonderful to see our residents getting the chance to learn from someone with so much knowledge when it comes to graphic novels,” she said.
“If anyone has an interest in comic books or just wants to spend some time embracing their creative side, then I hope they will head down to one of these free classes at Barking Learning Centre.”
