More fly tippers have been caught on camera in Barking and Dagenham Council’s latest CCTV online appeal. 

The thirteenth instalment in the YouTube series takes a look at fly-tipping hotspots in St. Chad’s Road in Chadwell Heath and Rowallen Parade, Dagenham. The council is encouraging residents to get in touch in confidence if they recognise any of the fly-tippers featured in the latest episode. 

Following tip offs from residents, three people who were recently featured in the CCTV appeal have been identified and each fined £150.

Councillor Margaret Mullane, Cabinet Member for Enforcement and Community Safety, said: “We have zero tolerance for anyone who feels it is okay to dump rubbish anywhere in our borough and we’re cracking down hard on fly-tippers in Barking and Dagenham. 

“People who dump rubbish show a complete lack of respect for their neighbourhoods and for the people who live there. It’s great that residents are stepping forward and helping us to identify these people. Please watch our latest CCTV appeal and continue to help us to clampdown on grime crime.” 

Fly tipping do’s and don’ts  

1.    If you have extra rubbish you need to get rid of, you can book a bulky waste collection or take it for free to the Frizlands Lane Reuse and Recycling Centre (you must take proof of identity with you - either a driving license with your current address or your current Council Tax bill).

2.    Putting rubbish next to a public bin and not inside it counts as fly-tipping and you can be fined.

3.    If a bin belongs to a block of flats and you’re not a resident, putting your rubbish in the bin is fly-tipping. 

4.    Commercial bins are for businesses to put specific types of waste in – you can’t put your personal rubbish in these bins. 

5.    If you see please report any dumped rubbish you see in your neighbourhood.
