Hooks Hall Pond in Dagenham’s Eastbrookend Country Park was given a new lease of life by the members of the London Community Rehabilitation Company (LCRC) to revitalise the area.

Eastbrookend’s Park Rangers were awarded funding to the sum of £2,000 from Tesco’s, Bags of Help scheme. This was used to purchase timber and other materials, to spruce up the area of Hooks Hall Pond.

This area was overgrown, trampled and muddy and became inaccessible for anyone wishing to cut through. This area was recognised to have so much potential for walkers, school groups and ‘twitchers’, but was avoided because there was not a clear pathway through. With the funds, timber was purchased to repair fencing, rebuild the steps and create handrails.

These impressive works were carried out by the LCRC and took four weeks to complete. The team took ownership of the project which also helped them to develop new skills.

The Park Rangers were hugely grateful and give thanks to the LCRC for their contribution in completing these works along with their Supervisor, Steve Finch. With a special mention to Community Ranger Jerome Scorer for coordinating the project and Eastminster Riding School for their help.
