Pupils from a Barking and Dagenham school, Hunters Hall Primary, took part in the first ever Cbeebies Children’s Choir.

The event took place at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall last week when the pupils teamed up with schools from across the country and performed to an audience of over 5000 people.

Alongside Europe’s first black and minority ethnic orchestra: ‘Chineke’, the choir performed to the theme ‘A Musical Journey to the Moon’, a celebration of the 50 year anniversary since Neil Armstrong first set foot on earth’s natural satellite.

In addition to this epic choral symphony, the choir and orchestra performed other well-known classics such as; John Adams’ - Short Ride in a Fast Machine; Giacomo Puccini’s - Madam Butterfly – Humming Chorus and Benjamin Britten’s - The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra.

Councillor Evelyn Carpenter, Cabinet Member for Educational Attainment and School Improvement said: “This sounded like a wonderful way for the children to finish their year at school and it must have been an incredible experience to perform in front of such a big audience. 

“I hope they thoroughly enjoyed the performances and look back on it with great memories.”

The choir finished the performances with a medley of well-known Cbeebies soundtrack classics led by Justin Fletcher, Yolanda Brown, Maddie Moate and other Cbeebies favourites.
