A secondary school in Dagenham welcomed Nick Gibb MP, Minister of State for Schools, last Thursday. 

Mr Gibb visited All Saints Catholic School after being invited along last year and was impressed by their teacher training provision and the rich curriculum on offer. 

During the tour of the school, the Minister answered questions from Year 12 students who are studying Crime and Punishment in the UK, and also met other pupils at break time.

“Our schools are building a great reputation:  we are proud that 90% are rated Good or Outstanding by Ofsted.”

Ms Clare Cantle, Headteacher of All Saints Catholic School said: “It is testament to all the excellent work and commitment of our staff, governors, families and pupils that a Minister of State has been able to enjoy his visit, celebrate and recognise the good things happening in this school at the heart of the borough of Barking and Dagenham.”

Drama and arts play an important role in the curriculum at All Saints and Mr Gibb met a Year 9 GCSE Performing Arts group to see how preparation is going before officially starting their GCSEs in September.  

Before heading off, he had a chat with the newly elected Barking and Dagenham Youth Forum members.
