While all eyes were on Westminster in central London this week, it was the illegal fly-tipping activities of three men at Westminster Gardens that feature in Barking and Dagenham Council’s latest Wall of Shame CCTV Appeal.

The trio are clearly pictured dumping a number of black bags illegally on the street, which is close to the A13, and are just some of several new faces to feature in the long-running series.

There’s also a settee being dumped by a couple, two women using a child’s pram to transport their unwanted rubbish bags and a man caught chucking unwanted cables.

Several locations from across the borough are featured in the 27th episode, which encourages residents to ring in and help identify the culprits, including St Chad’s, Rowallen Parade, Gurney Close, and Lodge Avenue.

The hit series has received over 150,000 views since it launched two years ago and has helped issue 28 fixed penalty notices to offenders caught on camera.

Councillor Margaret Mullane, Cabinet Member for Enforcement and Community Safety, said: “We’ve said it before and we will continue to say it until people get the message: we will not stand for anyone who thinks they can treat our borough like one big rubbish tip.

“If you have waste, put it in the bin. If it is too big for that, ring for it to be collected. If you chuck it on the floor, we will catch you and we will fine you. It really is that simple. If you know any of these people please get in touch with us.”

Earlier this year, the fine for offenders caught fly-tipping increased to £400 – the maximum allowed under current legislation – with litterers being charged £150.
