Council mourns passing of much-loved local GP

Barking and Dagenham Council has paid tribute to a much-loved local GP who unfortunately died from Covid-19.

Dr Zishan Haider who was 80 years old and lived in Dagenham had worked as a GP in the borough for over 30 years and was a friend and mentor to other GPs across the borough.

Councillor Maureen Worby, Cabinet Member for Social Care and Health Integration said: “The late Dr Haider was committed to serving our community here in Barking and Dagenham and our thoughts and prayers go to his family at this difficult time.

“He was a very valued member of the community, a man who loved and cared for his patients and a friend and mentor to other GPs in the borough. He will be sorely missed.

“I would like to thank our GPs and their staff across the borough for their work and support they are providing to our communities in these challenging times.”

Apart from serving at Valence medical centre, Dr Haider also worked as a senior homeopathic physician at the Royal London hospital for integrated medicine for over 30 years.
