Looking for financial help for an event or project to celebrate and promote equality, social inclusion and diversity in the borough?
Starting from today, the council may be able to help – residents who are part of a local charity or community group can apply for funding from the Equality and Diversity Community Fund to help deliver them.
This funding is a fantastic way for residents to bring their local community closer, to celebrate the things they’re most passionate about, and to help educate their local community about equalities events and issues.
The projects must promote social inclusion, celebrate diversity, and support equality through providing opportunities for people with protected characteristics.
Because of the current government Covid-19 restrictions, the council is looking for funding applications that will deliver events online, to keep everyone safe.
Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Community Leadership and Engagement, Cllr Saima Ashraf, said: “We’re really looking forward to receiving applications next month from charities, faith and community groups, to deliver events and projects again this year to bring our residents together, especially in these challenging times. These events and projects are essential to the growth and togetherness of our borough and those who live in it.”
Got your paperwork ready? You can start applying from today for up to £500 from the Fund, and have until Sunday 22 November to send in your application.
During this funding round, we’re also particularly looking for applications to deliver events based around Christmas, LGBT+ History Month (February 2021), or Women's Empowerment Month (March 2021), as they’re only a few months away.
