Jobs galore for local people despite the coronavirus pandemic

Despite the lockdown, residents of Barking and Dagenham are able to apply for a range of jobs including care work, nursery vacancies, apprenticeships and graduate entry positions with the police and other roles by contacting the council’s job shops.

Residents looking to sign up for work and training can still contact the council’s job shops. Although not open to the public as there are no face-to-face appointments, the service is still supporting local people via email, telephone or Skype.

As a council, we are committed to helping as many of our residents access a range of training and employment opportunities so that they can unlock their potential and make the next career move. Getting in contact with our job shops is the very first step

The Metropolitan Police is currently looking to recruit 11,000 people into apprenticeship positions up until 2025 and the job shops are helping them to achieve this.

Cllr Sade Bright, Cabinet Member for Employment, Skills and Aspiration, said: “Despite the current pandemic and at a time when people are worried about their jobs, I am extremely pleased that our job shops are still open and providing this key service to the borough’s residents

“As a council, we are committed to helping as many of our residents access a range of training and employment opportunities so that they can unlock their potential and make the next career move. Getting in contact with our job shops is the very first step.”
