Fostering

No child should spend Christmas without a family, do you have space at your Christmas table for one more?

As many of us are filled with excitement for the festive period, in Barking and Dagenham there are a number of children in the care of the council who have experienced a year they will never forget. We need your help to give them a safe and loving home.

We are looking for experienced foster carers and people interested in fostering to join our team and help make a difference to the lives of our borough’s children.

We know for some people, fostering is a step into the unknown, but our criteria to become a foster carer is simple, and as long as you are over the age of 25 with a spare bedroom you can apply to foster. Whether you are single, in a secure relationship, married, and of any religious or sexual orientation - if you tick any of these boxes, then what are you waiting for? Get in touch today.

Approved carers at Barking and Dagenham receive excellent training, comprehensive support and a healthy renumeration when looking after a child.

Councillor Maureen Worby, Cabinet Member for Social Care and Health Integration said: “We’re all excited for the festive period, especially after the challenging year we’ve all had. But I want us to spare a moment to think about all the children who won’t have a loving festive period to provide a release to the difficult year we’ve all experienced. I know we have all been spending more time at home, thinking about the future and what that might hold for us, this could be the perfect time to explore fostering.

“If you’ve reached the realization that you’ve got the space in your heart and home to change the life of a child this Christmas, you can apply online today at www.lbbd.gov.uk/fostering or by calling our fostering team on 020 8227 5988.”
