Council invites young residents to apply for Customer Service Traineeship Programme

As part of the council’s B&D Working Together initiative to support local people into employment, training and upskilling, a Customer Service Traineeship Programme is being offered to the borough’s residents aged 19 – 24 years-old.

The free 6-week Traineeship Programme will help residents to develop the skills and tools needed to successfully pursue a career in customer services and also includes a work placement within a council department for hands-on experience.

The programme welcomes applicants claiming Universal Credit, those not in employment and training, and care leavers. In addition, the programme will give participants the chance to study towards a level 1 in Customer Service.

Councillor Sade Bright, Cabinet Member for Employment, Skills and Aspiration, said: “We understand it has been a challenging time for our residents and many others across the country who are feeling the harsh effects of Covid-19. “This Traineeship Programme is perfect for those looking to pursue a career in customer service and will help to enhance their skills while providing a fantastic opportunity to take up a work placement within the council.”

The Traineeship Programme is due to start in early March, and the deadline for applications is this Wednesday 24 February. Limited spaces are available, and more information can be found at www.lbbd.gov.uk/working-together-traineeship
