A Barking man has been fined nearly £1000 after CCTV cameras caught a male who was seen coming out of his car to urinate in the street.



On 24 August 2019, a man was seen relieving himself on Sunningdale Avenue, Barking and then returning to a blue Vauxhall Corsa, that belonged to Mr Raymond Kamara-Taylor.



Urinating in public is an offence contrary to s.67 of the Anti-Social Behaviour Crime and Policing Act 2014.



As the registered owner of the vehicle captured, Mr Kamara-Taylor was required under Section 17 of the Greater London Council’s General Powers Act 1972, to provide details of who was driving the car at the time of the offence.



However, he failed to do so and was summoned to court.



The hearing was scheduled for Tuesday 9 February but Kamara-Taylor of Oban House, Barking failed to attend and was ordered to pay a fine of £975.18, costs and a victim surcharge.



Councillor Margaret Mullane, Cabinet Member for Enforcement and Community Safety said: “As the owner of the vehicle, Mr Kamara-Taylor has the responsibility to cooperate with us and provide us with the details of the offender. As he hasn’t, he will now have to stump up the money for the fine.



“Like all kinds of anti-social behaviour, we won’t stand for it and if we catch you, we will make sure that you pay for the crime. Our borough streets are not a public toilet and such unacceptable behaviour risks the health and safety of our residents.”
