As part of its joint work with the police to tackle antisocial behaviour in Barking and Dagenham, the east London council is holding a virtual Q&A session with residents to talk about work they are doing with the police to address the issues.
The council and police often get a number of complaints about antisocial behaviour, ranging from street drinking, begging, drug taking and general rowdy behaviour in particular hotspots around the borough.
To combat these issues, the council and police are operating several initiatives, such as joint Days of Action, Public Space Protection Orders and the Safe Haven scheme, which is hoped will all be talked about during the Q&A session.
Once the presentations are over, residents will have the opportunity to raise any questions that they may have.
Councillor Margaret Mullane, Cabinet Member for Enforcement and Community Safety said: “We know there are concerns about antisocial behaviour in some parts of the borough and recently the council and police have stepped up their joint work to tackle them.
“I’d encourage all residents to come along to the virtual Q&A session to hear what we’re doing to stop people from drinking alcohol in public places, begging, spitting or just general unacceptable behaviour and then ask any questions they may have.”
The session is taking place on Microsoft Teams on Tuesday 29 June at 5pm and if residents would like to attend, they should private message the council on Facebook or Twitter with their email address. Residents can also email csp@lbbd.gov.uk.
