A host of festive, family-friendly activities have started at Valence House this Christmas, as events return following last year’s lockdown. 

The festivities began on Saturday 27 November with a free two-day Victorian frost fair, where 1,500 visitors took the chance to step back in time and meet Victorians, as well as enjoy a traditional Christmas market complete with mulled wine, mince pies and children’s rides. Visitors would have also noticed royalty as Queen Victoria and Prince Albert paid a visit to Valence House.

The fair also played host to Father Christmas, and children had the chance to visit him in his grotto and receive a special present.

Father Christmas will return to his grotto on Wednesday 8 December for an autism friendly experience, where young people will be able to meet Santa in a more suitable sensory environment. Booking is required and tickets cost £5 each.

On Saturday 11 and Friday 17 December, visitors will have the chance to learn how to make a winter wreath using products from their garden. The workshops cost £12.50, which includes all resources as well as refreshments.

“The festive season is about creating lifelong memories and there is something for everyone to enjoy at Valence House this Christmas – so why not come along, indulge in a mince pie or two and try your hand at something new.”
