Recycle Week: Barking and Dagenham is ‘Stepping It Up’ in the fight against Climate Change!

Councillor Syed Ghani, Cabinet Member for Public Realm, said: “We’re delighted to be part of this year’s Recycle Week 2021 campaign and we can all take small steps each day to reduce our waste, reuse our items, and recycle as much as possible, to help pave the way for a greener and healthier world.

In barking and Dagenham more and more of us are recycling, which is fantastic, but we can continue to step it up and do more for the environment.

“In barking and Dagenham more and more of us are recycling, which is fantastic, but we can continue to step it up and do more for the environment. Together we can all help fight climate change by recycling more as it currently saves 18 million tonnes of CO2 every year, which is the same as taking 12 million cars off the road.

"One quick and easy thing we can all do is recycling more things at home - don’t forget that you can now recycle many more household items as part of our extended recycling scheme!

“You can also sign up to our Green Garden Waste collection service, which supports the environment by composting garden waste. Throughout the week we’ll also be hosting recycling roadshows so please do take part if you can and follow our social media channels this week for more recycling information and tips.

“I really want to encourage residents keep up the great work they’re doing to recycle in the borough, to look at what they are doing and think about how they can ‘Step It Up’ and do even more for our planet - let’s go green!”
