Barking and Dagenham Council is due to host its first Safer Neighbourhood Board of the year and is asking residents to register and submit their questions in advance.



The online event, which takes place on Thursday 4 March, will give residents the opportunity to talk about any particular issues they’re concerned about or if there is something they feel the police should be focusing on. 



Residents will have their questions answered by an expert panel including:



•    Stephen Thompson MBE – Chair of Barking and Dagenham Safer Neighbourhood Board 

•    Acting Chief Inspector Michael O’Donoghue – East Area Neighbourhoods and Partnerships, Metropolitan Police Service

•    Inspector Mel Baker – Safer Neighbourhoods, Metropolitan Police Service 

•    Councillor Margaret Mullane – Cabinet Member for Enforcement and Community Safety, Barking and Dagenham Council 

•    Andy Opie – Operational Director for Enforcement and Community Safety, Barking and Dagenham Council



Councillor Margaret Mullane, Cabinet Member for Enforcement and Community Safety said: “People feeling safe in their homes or in their local community is something that we’re extremely passionate about. 



“Between the council and the police, we all have a part to play, but we also need your help to ensure that we’re addressing the issues that you think are important. I hope to see lots of residents in attendance at the online meeting.”



To attend the virtual meeting, residents must register and complete the online survey on the council’s consultation portal by Friday 19 February.
