Residents invited to check out jobs in the construction industry

Local people interested in working in the construction industry are being invited to attend a job fair at the Barking Learning Centre in Barking Town Square, on Wednesday 16 March between 10.30am and 1pm.



At the event, they will be able to speak to a range of employers and apply for jobs within the borough. Attendees will discover a whole host of job vacancies, as well as receive professional careers and guidance. There’ll be a job brokerage service, a construction desk from the Barking and Dagenham Job Shop, and a CV service.



Employers expected will include attend include McLaren, Jerram Falkus, BDTP, Mullaly, JBT Apprenticeships, Be First, and Jobcentre Plus.



Councillor Sade Bright, Cabinet Member for Employment, Skills & Aspiration, who will be attending the event is encouraging residents to pop in to find out more.



She said: “We are working with our partners in the construction industry to not only grow the borough, but to provide opportunities for all of our residents to develop skills and careers in construction.



“Whether you are looking for an apprenticeship, have skills in the building trade or want to find out about training opportunities available, please join us on the day.”



Residents are reminded not to forget to bring their CVs with them – or alternatively, have an up-to-date digital version they can email straight to the employers.
