Barking and Dagenham Jobs and Skills Fair

Council invites residents to its first ever mega Jobs and Skills Fair

Residents of Barking and Dagenham are being invited to find out about jobs and training opportunities available at a Job and Skills Fair which will take place on 18 May.

On the day, attendees will be able to talk to employers, organisations looking to recruit staff and a number of training providers, be interviewed on the spot for open vacancies and speak to specialists who will be able to review CVs and where necessary, improve it.

And for those looking to improve their skills or get on to training courses they will be able to speak to providers who can recommend the relevant courses for them.

Cllr Sade Bright, Cabinet Member for Employment, Skills & Aspiration, said: “Our Employment and Skills service have been set up to help our residents develop the skills needed to get into sustainable and well-paid jobs within and outside the borough.

“I am glad we have been able to put together this event which will include employers from a range of fields – construction, finance, care providers, the council and much more. And if you are looking for training opportunities we can speak to more providers on the day.

“I do hope to see as many residents there as there will be opportunities for people to be interviewed there and then for jobs – make it a fresh start.”

In addition, residents will be able to get help and advice to help them deal with the cost of living crisis.

The event takes place on Thursday 18 May, from 11am to 3pm, at the Short Blue Place in Barking Town Centre (outside ASDA and McDonalds).

To find out more, residents can email vacancies@lbbd.gov.uk, register online or just turn up on the day.
