Pay Council Tax by Direct Debit for a chance to win £1,000

THE PRIZE DRAW HAS NOW CLOSED

Barking and Dagenham Council is encouraging residents to pay their Council Tax by Direct Debit to save time, help manage their personal budgets and be in with a chance to win £1,000.

By setting up a Direct Debit, residents don’t have to worry about missed payments or deal with any additional costs for late payments.

When residents set up a Direct Debit, their Council Tax is automatically deducted from their bank account on agreed dates.

The council has announced that everyone who pays their Council Tax by direct debit in the borough will be automatically entered into a prize draw for a chance to win £1,000.

To be eligible, residents must be registered to pay their Council Tax via Direct Debit by midnight, 30 November and the lucky winner will then be randomly selected.

Council tenants are also being encouraged to pay their council rent by Direct Debit each month to save time and help manage their finances.

Councillor Dominic Twomey, Deputy Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Finance, Growth and Core Services, said: “I encourage residents to set up a Direct Debit payment for your Council Tax - it takes away the hassle of having to remember to make a payment each month and will really help you to keep on track with your payments.

“Everyone in the borough who pays their Council Tax by direct debit will also be automatically entered into a prize draw for a chance to win £1,000 – so you’ve got to be in it to win it.

“Working closely with our community partners, we’re providing a whole range of cost of living support during this tough time, so if you’re struggling, please do reach out and talk to us as soon as you can. We can provide lots of advice and support and help you get back on top of your finances before things spiral.”
