Residents interested in a career in construction invited to get in touch.

Residents of Barking and Dagenham who are interested in a career in the construction industry are being invited to get in touch with the Barking Riverside Innovation in Construction Centre (BRIC).

The council’s BRIC training centre based in Barking Riverside is offering construction training and qualifications plus brand-new test centre facilities where interested residents can book for their CITB Health, Safety and Environment tests. They will also be able to gain a Level 1 Health and Safety in Construction qualification.

On successful completion of the course, participants will gain the green CSCS labourer card which will allow them to work safely in the construction industry. Staff at the BRIC will also assist them to gain other industry related construction cards.

Cllr Sade Bright, Cabinet Member for Employment, Skills and Aspiration, said: “This is an opportunity for residents of all ages and genders interested in a career in the construction industry to get the relevant training to help them get into the trade.

“I will encourage residents to get in touch with the BRIC to find out more or to just have a chat. For those already in the industry please save the date for our next Construction Job Fair. Hope to see you there.”

Residents are invited to our Construction Job Fair which takes place on Wednesday 15 November at the Bric Training Centre, Infrastructure Way, Off Choats Road, Gate A, IG11 0YN from 10am to 12 noon.
