Barking and Dagenham Council scoops another GOLD award!

It’s gold again for Barking and Dagenham Council. 

The council has been awarded another prestigious Investors in People Gold accreditation.  

The accreditation places the east London council among the 28% of organisations that achieve the gold standard, making it one of the best places to work in the UK. 

The Investors in People report praised the council’s workforce for their ‘real desire to provide quality services to meet residents’ needs and make a difference to their lives’. And the council was noted to have a ‘truly inclusive and supportive working environment.’ 

Commenting on the award, Councillor Dominic Twomey, Leader of Barking and Dagenham Council said: “Retaining the Investors in People Gold Award is a fantastic achievement.  It reflects our unwavering commitment to our staff and the community we serve.  We are dedicated to creating a supportive and empowering work environment where everyone can thrive and deliver the best quality services for our residents every day.”

The council has also been shortlisted for two highly prestigious awards for the Investors in People Awards 2024:

  • Young Person of the Year - Nawaal Said

Nawaal is a Participation and Engagement Apprentice at the council and is improving outcomes and experiences of children in care and care leavers.

  • Best Apprenticeship Programme within the Enforcement Team

The council created apprenticeships at various levels, to attract local talent, especially young people and care leavers, and upskilled colleagues (including technical specialism and leadership) to create a culture of learning and development, with staff empowered to achieve their full potential.
