B&D residents take part in road safety event

Passersby were invited to take part in a road safety event in Barking last week where they traded places with a heavy goods vehicle driver.

A heavy goods vehicle was parked in front of Barking Town Hall and members of the public swapped places with driver to try an identify the danger (blind) spots around large vehicles.

The event which took place in Barking Town Square on Tuesday 29 October aimed to increase road safety awareness as well as providing a free bike repair service.

Local partners including the police and fire brigade also attended the event and offered advice around fire safety and reassurance messaging.

The pop-up event was a huge success with over 50 people engaging with services available.
