Paralympic swimmer Brock Whiston has been awarded Barking and Dagenham Council’s Borough Recognition Award for her outstanding contributions, both to the local community, and through her sporting achievements.
On Wednesday 2 October, Cllr Moin Quadri, Mayor of Barking and Dagenham presented Whiston with the prestigious accolade.
The council’s Borough Recognition Awards celebrate individuals who have gone above and beyond to make a positive difference within the community. The award honours Brock Whiston not only for her success as a Paralympian, but also for her broader impact to the borough.
Brock is a member of the Barking and Dagenham Aquatics Club, and represented the borough and Great Britain on the international stage, winning gold and silver medals at the 2024 Paralympic Games.
Her achievements have inspired the local community, especially aspiring young athletes, as she continues to demonstrate resilience, dedication, and perseverance.
In addition to her athletic career, Brock works at a local school where she actively contributes to the development and wellbeing of young people. Through her dual roles as an educator and athlete, she serves as a role model for the next generation.
