Barking and Dagenham Council Launches 2025 Women's Empowerment Month Nominations!

Residents and community groups have the opportunity to recognise and celebrate the outstanding contributions women have made in Barking and Dagenham as part of the council’s Women’s Empowerment Month in March. 

Winners will be featured and honoured through a special Recognition Wall, which will be published online on Monday, 24 March. 

A dedicated panel will review all nominations and select the winners. They will also be celebrated across the council’s social media platforms.

Nomination categories:

  • Community Project of the Year
  • Community Impact
  • Entrepreneur of the Year
  • Educator of the Year
  • Health and Wellbeing Champion of the Year
  • Woman of Courage
  • Jodie Chesney Young Community Champion of the Year
  • Anne Estlea Lifetime Achievement
  • Barking and Dagenham Woman of the Year

Councillor Sade Bright, Cabinet Member for Employment, Skills & Aspiration, said: “Our Women’s Empowerment Month nominations are a fantastic way to acknowledge and celebrate the incredible contributions women make to our community. 

“This year, we will feature a special Recognition Wall, which will be published online and across social media from Monday, 24th March. We encourage everyone to take part - help us shine a light on those who truly deserve recognition for their outstanding work.”

Nominees will need to live or work in the borough and nominations must be submitted by Friday, 21 February. Please note that submissions received after this date will not be considered.
