Responsibility for Housing Benefit fraud investigations is with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). The government set up a Single Fraud Investigation Service (SFIS) within DWP which investigates all benefit fraud, including Tax Credits fraud. We are committed to tackling the issue of benefit fraud, and we'll support SFIS with any investigations they are conducting using data-sharing rules in place to accommodate this.
If you suspect someone is claiming Housing Benefit or Council Tax Support fraudulently and you wish to refer this anonymously for investigation, you can do this by contacting the relevant bodies below who will examine the information provided and take further action if required.
