Residents of Barking and Dagenham who need help and support to get into work are being invited to a ‘walk-in registration’ event on Thursday 23 June at the Dagenham Job Shop in Dagenham Library.
Residents who are looking for work and need support to secure employment or explore training opportunities, are being encouraged to attend.
To be eligible, attendees must have the right to work in the UK, be 16 years of age or over and live in the borough of Barking and Dagenham. On the day they will also be expected to bring along proof of identity such as a passport, proof of address and a document showing their NI number.
Cllr Sade Bright, Cabinet Member for Employment, Skills and Aspiration, said: “Now that Covid-19 restrictions have been lifted, this is an opportunity for residents wanting to find out about work and training to come and meet with our staff.
“Whether you are looking for a job, thinking of a career change or wanting to discover what training opportunities are open to you – I hope to see as many residents as possible there.”
The event takes place on Thursday 23 June, at the Dagenham Job Shop, Dagenham Library, 1 Church Elm Lane, Dagenham, RM10 9QS, from 10am to 3pm.
Jobs and training opportunities are also advertised on the council website every Monday, and residents can register with the service by completing the online form. They will then be contacted by a member of staff.
Alternatively, residents can contact the shops by telephone: Dagenham Job Shop – 020 8724 8877; Barking Job Shop – 020 8724 8870.
